About the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial is a monument that spans 7.5 acres, symbolizing the twelve years of FDR's presidency in four outdoor rooms. Sculptures whow scenes like listening to fireside chats, waiting in a bread line, FDR sitting with his dog Fala, and FDR's wife, Eleanor Roosevelt. Each of the four outdoor rooms has a water feature, increasing in intricasy as you progress through each room. Because of FDR's disability, this monument was designed to be accessible to those with disabilities.
The original Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial is roughly the size of a desk, small and simple. It follows his wish of not having a memorial not bigger than his desk.
