About the Korean War Vetrans Memorial

The Korean War Vetrans Memorial was created to honor the men and women who served during the war. It is shaped like a triangle intersecting a circle. The wall, the south side of the triangle, is 164 feet long, and 8 inches thick. There ae more than 2,500 images representing the war depicted on the walls. Inside the walls, there are 19 statues ranging from 7 foot, 3 inches to 7 foot, 6 inches tall. The statues are soldiers in full combat gear, with each statue weighing nearly 1,000 pounds. Inside the triangle is also a circular pool called the Pool of Remembrance. The Pool is 30 feet in diameter, and is lined with black granite. Around the edge of the Pool, casualty statistics for the troops who fought in the war are engraved in the stones.
